How To Choose A Biological Microscope?

The microscope is a necessary instrument in a biological laboratory, with a large amount of equipment, so it is very important to choose the microscope correctly, which can meet the needs and save money. Generally, we can consider the choice of biological microscope from the number of eyepieces, optical parts, structural materials, light sources, and other aspects.

(1) Observe structure:

According to the number of eyepieces used, microscopes can be divided into monocular, binocular, and trinocular microscopes. If the general users want a simpler microscope and want a cheaper one, they choose monocular microscopes. Generally, monocular microscopes are suitable for primary school students, middle school students, small clinics, and parents to buy them for their children. They use more microscopes, and the price is lower. More affordable.

(2) Optical part:

The core of microscope quality is its optical part, eyepiece, and objective part. For objective lens, it can be divided into several levels. First of all, achromatic objective lens. With this kind of objective lens, not all parts of the image are transparent. Only about 60% of the field of vision is clear, and 40% of the peripheral components have certain defects. Usually, we put the observation part in the field of vision, so it does not affect the observation. But if you want to have a perfect vision, you need to use a flat area achromatic objective lens. The price of this kind of objective lens will be much higher, which is generally used in medical and scientific research. There is also between the two, that is, semi-flat field achromatic objective. Students use the microscope to choose the first two levels.

(3) Structural materials:

The service life of the microscope is very long, some can reach more than 10 years, so high-quality parts and strict assembly become the guarantee of its service life. Therefore, you should choose a microscope with a stable and sturdy frame. The material is alloyed to reduce distortion. Also, the lens should be made of optical glass, and the exterior paint layer should be smooth and uniform. Also, make sure that the microscope you are buying is produced by the relevant general standards to easily buy them when you want to buy related accessories in the future.

(4) Light source:

There are three kinds of light sources for microscope: tungsten lamp, fluorescent lamp, halogen lamp, and tungsten lamp is also an incandescent lamp. The advantage of this kind of lamp is that it is cheap and can provide a stable light source. The disadvantage is that the light emitted is yellow, which will affect the observation. Besides, it generates too much heat, which will involve some materials after long-term observation. Therefore, if the microscope is a tungsten lamp, the price is relatively cheaper. Fluorescent lamps can provide a light source similar to sunlight and produce little heat. Moreover, fluorescent lamps with the same power are much brighter than incandescent lamps. Therefore, fluorescent lamps will save electricity, and the price is higher.
